Men nowadays lead an active lifestyle. Working hard, traveling long hours, playing sports and even regular workouts are often accompanied by excessive sweating. This sweaty environment on the body causes bacteria and harmful microorganisms, triggering Jock itch. In a recent statistics, Jock Itch can infect 1 out of 10 men. The sad truth about this, no man would want to ever admit and even talk about this “itch”. Well, we completely understand.
What is jock itch?
Jock itch is a common fungal infection that grows in warm and moist conditions. The medical term for jock itch tinea cruris. It may be contracted when a person makes contact with the fungus and the body provides a suitable damp growing environment. Jock itch got its name because it is common in people who sweat a lot, as do athletes. It also is more likely to occur in people who are overweight.
Prevention is better than cure.
Preventing jock itch, rather than treating it, is an attractive option for patients and physicians. Prevention involves avoiding contact with the fungus and efforts to keep the groin area dry. Patients, especially with recurrences, will likely prefer to use their efforts towards prevention to avoid the disagreeable conditions of the infection and treatment. Physicians promoting a preventative approach can reduce patient visits and save cost for health care systems.
Mayo Clinic suggests the following ways to prevent it:
Surprisingly, underwear can play a big factor in keeping you away from jock itch. Although, there are a lot of briefs/boxers that can claim they are comfortable and breathable. But, are they really keeping your groins dry? Linen underwear is a good option to keep you dry. Linen is made of flax fibers, which absorb water and release it quickly into the surroundings. This prevents moisture from building up on the body. The fibers are stiff, so when woven together there will be gaps between them, which makes linen so exceptionally breathable.
So to avoid having this awkward conversation with your peers or even your doctor, an ounce of prevention is a hundred times better than cure.

HOW TO MEASURE
Wrap a measuring tape around your hip bone line, making sure the tape is parallel to the ground. This measurement determines your waist size. IMPORTANT: Do not rely on your jean size measurements. Just because your jean size is 34 does not mean your waist is 34 inches. Usually, your waist measurements are greater than your jean size.
