In Chile it’s called "andar a lo gringo”, or going gringo. The act of not wearing underwear under clothing has fascinated humans for thousands of years. Even some articles of clothing are designed to go without underwear, such as kilts, jogging pants and various sports shorts.
Firstly, we should be aware of the risk of undertaking commando. Have you ever been politely and discreetly told “Sir, your fly”. You feel a bit embarrassed, but not the end of the world - zip up and move on. Now imagine this scenario while going commando? We’ll just leave it at that and move on.
How about the benefits? Some say they phrase “going commando” comes from the Vietnam war when U.S. soldiers would go without underwear to help reduce moisture and heat. This is a logical move for those working in humid and hot conditions. Cotton underwear tends to retain moisture, so anywhere with high moisture levels you can do without it.
At Maqoo we created a linen underwear. We think it’s the closest thing to going commando without actually going commando. As linen is known as the cooling fabric it’s ideal for hot weather. As well, linen is incredible at absorbing and releasing moisture. So if you’re thinking about commando just for the extra air flow, consider Maqoo instead.
Final thoughts: Do it at home and enjoy the extra ventilation. Don’t risk it in public.

HOW TO MEASURE
Wrap a measuring tape around your hip bone line, making sure the tape is parallel to the ground. This measurement determines your waist size. IMPORTANT: Do not rely on your jean size measurements. Just because your jean size is 34 does not mean your waist is 34 inches. Usually, your waist measurements are greater than your jean size.
